CARE AND MAINTENANCE

Taking care of your furniture

Wooden products

Sun damage

These materials are both sensitive to light. We’d recommend that you avoid leaving anything on the surfaces for the first 6-8 weeks, if they’re exposed to sunlight. This should help you avoid any marks or rings appearing if the furniture lightens in the sun.

Cleaning instructions

Make use of a damp cloth, not too wet, Dry the surfaces thoroughly afterwards. Wooden products can be damaged by liquids, so if you spill anything on it, be sure to wipe it dry immediately.

Leather or leather- upper products

Sun and heat damage

Leather can lighten if it’s exposed to direct sunlight, so be careful where you place it if you want to avoid this. It can also be damaged if it’s exposed to heat – don’t put it too close to a heater or any other forms of heat ie direct sunlight.

Cleaning instructions

You can clean leather using a soft, dry cloth. Do not use soap or any detergents to clean your leather products as this may cause it to crack, peel or flake. Also avoid from using a cloth previously used with cleaning detergents or soap. To keep your leather looking its best, we recommend you clean it regularly with a leather cleaner and conditioner which you can purchase from our FurnitureMart store.

PU ( Polyurethane Upholstery)

Sun and heat damage

PU is made by coating a backing fabric such as cotton, polyester or shredded leather with a flexible polymer and then treating it to look more like animal hide. Polyurethane upholstery is the most realistic imitation of genuine leather, with respect to hand, surface feel, and overall appearance.

PU upholstery can lighten and crack if it’s exposed to direct sunlight, so be careful where you place it if you want to avoid this. It can also be damaged if it’s exposed to heat – don’t put it too close to a heater or any other forms of heat ie direct sunlight.

Cleaning instructions

You can clean using a soft, dry cloth. Do not use soap or any detergents to clean your leather products as this may cause it to crack, peel or flake. Also avoid from using a cloth previously used with cleaning detergents or soap.

Fabric Upholstery products ( this includes micro-fibre, air-leather, or velvet products )

Sun and heat damage

Upholstered furniture will lighten over time if it’s exposed to direct sunlight, so be careful where you place your furniture pieces. Wear To keep seat cushions looking their best and to help them wear evenly, be sure to regularly turn them. Give foam, feather or fibre-filled cushions and puff up and shake as often as possible.

 Cleaning instructions

Do not clean using water or any type of liquid cleaner  or detergent– rather use a something to scoop up solid mess and dab any liquid spills with a dry paper towel.

We would also recommend getting professional steam cleaning done if need be.

 Feet Maintenance

Make sure the feet on your chair or sofa are tightly fastened. Try not to drag them to avoid damage to the feet, or your floor.
